Two recent high school graduates are winners of the 2025 Northside Hospital Leadership Award scholarships.
Positive Athlete Georgia presents the regional scholarships each year in conjunction with Northside. This year’s winners were:
- Keely Klinect, soccer and golf, Parkview High School in Lilburn
- Elizabeth Michalek, lacrosse, Walton High School in Marietta
Klinect and Michalek will receive $1,000 college scholarships in recognition of the leadership they showed as student-athletes at their respective schools and communities. They were chosen from more than 6,400 nominations representing more than 440 public and private high schools across Georgia.
The scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 2025 Georgia Positive Athlete awards ceremony on June 5 at Piedmont Church in Marietta. The event will celebrate all state winners and recipients of corporate-sponsored scholarships, with more than $30,000 in scholarships being awarded.
Positive Athlete is a recognition program that celebrates high-character student-athletes and coaches who have overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their schools and communities significantly, or have an infectious positive attitude that makes everyone around them a better person.
Former University of Georgia football star Hines Ward, the MVP of Super Bowl 40, started Positive Athlete. Since the program began in Georgia, more than $350,000 in college scholarships have been awarded.
